The operation of GenWy Wind will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power thousands of New York homes each year, without any air or water pollution and with no greenhouse gas emissions, a leading cause of global warming.

• Spaces remain open: Wind farms enable local property owners to capture a new source of clean energy without interfering with their current use of the land, helping to maintain open spaces.

• Reduced use of fossil fuels: Each local, clean megawatt produced through wind energy means less produced through costly fossil fuels. To put this into perspective, the clean energy produced at the nearby Steel Winds facility in Lackawanna, New York, is the equivalent of burning approximately 115,000 barrels of oil or 32,000 tons of coal per year, yet has none of the associated toxicity, health, or cost issues.
